Controversial Conversation - Christianity

The past, one or two years, I have found myself to be in the middle of the whirlpool of the strength of my faith and the relationship I have with God. I am a Christian; I am confidently a Christian and a believer of the Holy Spirit. I will stay with this belief unless it can somehow be shaken. I have been flung into this world of atheism, skepticism, moral and critical thinking and I have been questioning my faith and whatnot. I don't have all the answers but here is my point of view and although it may not be a strong argument but through experience and more time, I'm sure I will be able to build it up like I would with my portfolio or resume in the realm of existence.

Just this morning, my sister inserted this Birdy CD into the car. It was 12 in the afternoon when we were driving to Northbridge to have lunch. My trip to the city was a pleasant one as I was listening to Birdy and reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. I think this month is going to be all about birds or something (even my blog head is of birds!)

I was immediately mesmerized by Birdy's voice. She is absolutely amazing and has a beautiful voice. Even though all the songs on the album are just song covers such as Skinny Love and Young Blood - she gives them a touch of 'Birdy-ness' (?) to them and makes them hers.



I feel really pedophile - ish when I say this but she has an absolutely amazing voice and she's super pretty! I can honestly say that she's one of my favourite singers along with Florence + The Machine and Lana Del Rey! They're all super pretty and they all have unique voices and a certain style.

School and Sleepovers

So, now it's currently term 2 holidays and that means we would have already received our semester 1 reports already! I thought I would have done so much better, I was so disappointed in myself. I guess I'm just so used to getting A's or B's for my report and only like 1 C...

But this year, I received only 2 A's!!!! My parents were extremely disappointed in me and I was so embarrassed with myself. I knew that I wasn't working to the best of my ability, since I was procrastinating so much and compared my my friends in my classes - I wasn't working properly and putting the best effort I could of. I'm going to try to at least push my C's to a B, and my B's to an A and try to improve my A's even more. I need all of these scores to add up together so I can go to university.



I've always dreamed of going into university (Sims 2 had a big influence XD ), but many people say that university is very fun and everything. And since, I've been at the same school since I was 5 years old, I've never really made new friends (well I have, but not at a new school), and been the new girl? at a new school. It's just going to be super fun, and I don't want to miss out on all the fun just because I couldn't graduate and go to university just because I wasn't working well enough in school.

Also, even though when my parents ask me what I want to be when I grow up - I have no idea. I know that I want to study social psychology in university, but honestly, I have no idea what to be when I grow up. I'm thinking of business, with like a full on desk and writing reports and everything but that seems like a really boring job and I'm more of an art person...but at the same time psychology is just so interesting and intriguing... I just hope, somehow, God can guide me to the right directions and lead me to whatever path he has planned out for me. I'm sure he has a future for me and somehow in my future, he would want me to help spread the word about Him but at the same time, survive through this sinful world. (Sorry if I seem like a pessimist)

Anyways, end of rant.

Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season episode 1: Valentine's Day

So after a week of constant waiting I finally watched Kimi ni Todoke Season 2 episode 1 (the other one didn't count!!) - Valentine's Day. Although I've already read the manga but watching the anime made me even more upset that Sawako didn't give the chocolates to Kazehaya!! He was looking forward to them and it seemed like everyone else had them except for him D:

Even though Kurumi is really adorable and cute, in this episode I really hated her!! No wonder why they put the Episode 0 about Kurumi and her "rejection" so we could feel sorry for her and understand her side of the story. Me and Kurumi have a love/hate relationship. I totally hate her sometimes but then I totally love her and pity her. Haha. Though Sawako will always and I mean ALWAYS beat Kurumi!! Both personality and looks ^_^

Nobody's Perfect : Michelle Phan Controversy [rant]

I really don't want to post this but I have to get it out of my system since it's bugging me to much as to how much hate there is towards a person.

Dear 'Haters,' 'Ex-Phans,' 'People passing by,' 'Person who happened to drop by,' 'Followers,' 'YouTubers,' and 'People in the Trash a Guru' section (not all of the people because some actually hate moderately and some people just full on hate all the way)

I am not a 'minion' or an obsessed fangirl or boy nor am I a hater. I just think that you should hate moderately (oh, I use to like her until... i did/didn't like that tutorial but she did do a messy job/ though i did like,) and not go on whincing and complaining about every single flaw about Michelle Phan (I hated that tutorial everything was messy and stupid like...and like..., did you see what she posted on facebook? she should have just used..., YOU SHOULD UNSUBSCRIBE! ). Nobody is perfect like seriously! You might think that 'oh that's what everyone says!' but how else am I suppose to break it to you that everybody is flawed?

So, some people write back saying that they shouldn't be so mean and everything in the forums. Then people write back as to why Michelle is a bad person and then they write 'if you want to rave about a guru there's a section for it - this is trash a guru.' Since I'm on neither, I can just write whatever I want right? Well here goes.

Skins

So if you don't know already - Skins UK version (NOT US version, it so far looks completely rubbish btw)
Skins is a British teen drama that follows a group of teenagers in Bristol, South West England, through the two years of sixth form. The controversial plot line explores issues such as dysfunctional families, mental illness (including eating disorders), sexual orientation identity, substance abuse and death. - Taken from Wikipedia

Okay, if you're not into Gossip Girl and all that stuff you're thinking that it's either just like that or worse. Believe me, I reckon Skins is completely way better than Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl may be more fancy and rich and 'oh the posh lives of so and so' but 2 words: it's so unrelatable and unrealistic. Unless you're a rich socialite who goes to a rich expensive school, then yes - you can relate to it. And yes, if you sleep with different guys even if you don't like them. Seriously, I used to love Gossip Girl but now that I've thought about it. It's really actually quite stupid. The only ever couple I actually do like is Chuck and Blair. The rest of the couples ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS break up. So Serena sleeps with Dan, break up, Serena sleeps with Nate, they break up, Nate sleeps with Jenny, Jenny sleeps with Chuck, Chuck sleeps with Blair, Blair sleeps with Nate, Nate sleeps with Vanessa, Vanessa sleeps with Dan.... you know? It's like they're sleeping with each other. I do love the fashion and the setting. But especially the fashion. 


edit:// [02/01/11] Okay, I reckon I'm being unreasonable - I actually do like Gossip Girl but when you compare it to Skins. Skins is 10000 times more better. Gossip Girl has some pros and cons too! If you've ever read the book, it's actually a really good read. Though the characters in the book and the characters in the show are really different. I think I like Gossip Girl mostly because of the fashion, as I've mentioned, and the glitz and glamour they're surrounded in. There's also the Queen Bee - Blair and the parties and the many events that socialites go to. Which is what makes it interesting, for me because it's like going into a new world of the rich and famous. Which is what Dan actually feels like as he's brought into Serena's world. It's not all perfect, there's many flaws and I like that. It's not that I hate Gossip Girl but I used to love it when I watched season 1 but now that I think it over - it's actually not that good.



Now...Skins is another completely different teenage drama. It focuses lots of different issues that most teenagers face and it's relatable and sort of realistic I guess. I wouldn't know, I'm not British. (But neither am I American) I do know that we've studied about teenagers and drugs and unsafe sex and eating disorders though in school though. Though I do have to warn you (before you get addicted to it!) that they use a lot of swear words and I don't think that anyone younger than 13 should really watch this.

The teenagers in Skins worry about their virginity, their family, they worry about their religion and how their friends think because one of the characters is gay.
 You have your gorgeous confident ringleader who is manipulative and seems to get everything his way.
 You have the person who likes his best friend's girlfriend and can't even tell that some other girl is obsessed with him and he has to suffer with getting a good school grade.
You have the girl who has an eating disorder and tries to suicide because the guy doesn't like him.
You have your religious guy who prays 5 times a day.
You have the party person who takes drugs and has fallen in love with his teacher.
You have the stunning gorgeous girl who worries about his gorgeous boyfriend because he secretly cheats on her with some rich girl.
You have the musician who comes from a musical background and practices hard for a competition but doesn't win.
Then you have the openly gay character and you know where that leads him.

Every single one of the characters, teenagers can relate in some way or another. My favourite characters are Cassie and Maxxie. :)

Prayer Meeting

I don't really like to blog about God and Jesus Christ because I'm not a person who should be preaching and all since I'm not a role model to anyone. I look up to a lot of people and some people who I look up to are my friends, my mum and my church leader who teaches us and I also look up to people who I don't even know on Tumblr because they post about their and other people's experiences and relationship with God. They inspire me so much but this post is mainly about some of my friends who I really envy because of their faith!

Halloween :/ + Day 8

I dislike Halloween, mainly because it celebrates paganism and I hate it when people come around asking for treats. Some of my friends have had people set their tree on fire because they didn't have any treats. Sure, it's lots of fun and you get to dress up and everything and you get free treats but seriously, don't you feel guilty begging people for free stuff? Halloween...ugh It's freaking scary!!!!

Day 3 + Being a Male

Girls with a Good Sense of Humor = Turn off for guys

I’m referring to funny as in ha-ha, not funny as in odd.

That is so stupid. Of course, girls like guys who have a sense of humour and it's so funny! Thing is, I've just realised that all my friends who aren't as hilarious always get the guys and the girls who entertain and are amusing don't seem to be in a relationship. Being funny is so not a male thing!! It's a girl thing too D: I've always wanted to be a guy ~ well the majority of times but sometimes I like being a girl.

Being a guy you can totally not hug and be all touchy. Yucky! Then you can say sick stuff and your friends will totally join in and not say 'Ewwww, you're so gross.' You don't have to dress up nicely all you have to do is wear a shirt even if you haven't washed it for a month, jeans and pair of sneakers. When you're a guy, you're also a lot smarter proof is - The best chef is a male, best hairdresser is male, best fashion designer is a male. Male Male Male! I couldn't even play karate with the kids because I was a girl D:

Day 3. Your idea of the perfect first date.
I really loved the idea in 'My Sassy Girl' where they swapped shoes and he had to wear high heels and she wore his sneakers :) Let him suffer before marrying because then they'll change and make YOU suffer.

PLASTIKOS?

I actually mean people who want to but don't need to. There is a difference because people who need to might have had an accident but people who want to might dislike a feature of themselves and want to change it.

I don't think anybody should get plastic surgery just because they think they have flaws somewhere. Everybody should be told that they're beautiful inside (especially!) and outside. People can be so cruel sometimes and tell people that they're ugly and disgusting. Everybody has different opinions and define the word 'beautiful' differently. It also applies to celebrities as well, some people like _______ and other people like ________. There is no exact definition of 'beautiful', 'hot' or 'cute'.

I do believe that people have freedom to choose whether or not to have plastic surgery though because it is their life and if it builds their self esteem then fine, but then they will look like someone else and in the end everyone will look similar like the two girls below:

What people should worry about more than their appearance is there personality. People don't choose leaders because they're beautiful it's because they have a good heart and ambitious to lead.You know the saying 'appearance captures the attention but personality captures the heart' or something like that. If you're super duper pretty but you have an ugly personality well nobody cares because you're personality is such a turn off. If you're beautiful and you have a beautiful heart well...KUDOS :D

Lip/Cheek Tints

Okay, I've always wondered why and how Goo Hye Sun/ Geum Jan Di always had that awesome lip colour that was always so reddish pink.
My lips are never like that colour!! And I don't like lipstick since it makes my lips go dry and flaky. Lipglosses don't work for me..That is when I discovered LIP/CHEEK TINTS!

Ta da! This one is from the Body Shop ~ which I just realised they had. Anyways, what are lip/cheek tints supposed to do? Well according to The Body Shop about the above tint it says -
Best if you want to: Give cheeks a healthy glow and lips a wash of color with a dual-purpose stain that complements all complexions.
Best for: all skin tones
What it is designed to do:

■Gel-based formulation is fast drying and easy to blend.

■Glycerin and pathenol moisturize lips and improve hydration.


■Angled applicator brush and well on the stem pack is designed for easy application, while minimizing product spillage.

So there you go :) I bought it today at Sportsgirl after hearing about it and it was only 4.95$ which is OK but at first it looks like it has a lot in it but when you take the applicator out it really does only have like 4ml...But so far - good results! I've only tried it on my lips though because I don't like red cheeks.

The things I've noticed about it though is that :

1. It feels as if it's not there at all! :O Unlike lipgloss or lipstick which makes your lips oily or stick together.

2. It makes it look natural and not shiny at all.

3. Luscious lips! No more weird coloured lips anymore (for me!)

4. It makes you look prettier of course

So, the internet on the larger computer's internet got cut off so I had to use the crappy computer's internet - my laptop is also broken because for some reason it won't charge the batts so it ran out x.x

Anyways, I turned on the larger computer on and like prayed to God to help me fix the internet for the router NETGEAR thingie and it worked! I clicked on Repair (which I did previously but it didn't work before) but then suddenly it worked!!!! I was like WOW!

I was like OMG OMG OMG! Finally, big comp is fixed!

Yesterday, I went to the city to shop at Supre,
my sister had a $40 gift voucher at Supre.

Seriously, I don't know why anyone would want to shop at supre,
not only is it hella expensive but the clothes are like ermm,,
really short and skanky

Nothing is under $10!!!
(Aside from the accessories and really old items)
Like the singlets are like $10-$30!!!
And they're just singlets -_- 

I get how it's summer here but seriously,
they don't have to be that short. 
They even sell boob tubes - 
didn't check the price
but I bet they're expensive too. 

The worst thing is,
is that the supre sites don't show the extra short clothes

So,,, we just came back home when suddenly mandy's phone starts ringing and I tell her that it's ringing...She quickly grabs her phone and says that I'm calling her?! What,,,, my phone is flipped together and is in my bag - I wasn't even holding my phone and there was no possible way the phone can call by itself since it's flipped together. This was so freaky!!!! The call lasted for 7 seconds and Mandy said she could hear sounds o.O


To Sarah, Harris, Jake, WooBin, eBayer, future apartment buddy,
I don't know what happened but I hope you are feeling okay and that you should know that everything will be perfect again. God is definitely and infinitely watching over you right now and gave you a hill in the middle of your path that you can definitely resolve no matter what happens. Like in dramas - BBF, Geum Jan Di had to go through tunnels and caves and la di la di da to finally have a happy ending. You are an extremely intelligent and tough girl and just pretend that you're fighting a bunch of evil vampires and one of them is named Stephenie Meyer who you desperately want to deafeat. If you ever feel down, you can let it all out on your blog and either post it or save it as a draft. (It feels better when you let everything out) I am not used to a depressing Sarah (I shall have to get use to it) so hurry up and be happy again, okay ? :D :D :D

Asian Parents...





1. They're hardcore lecturers
So when I was little I asked them for help on a maths problem,
 2 hours later -
They're still lecturing....their voice is so annoying and they stick to me like velcro to see if I can do it properly. If I don't another 2 hours of lecturing...Makes me want to fall asleep. zzzZZZ

2. They expect you to be the best at every subject
Ever experienced this:
"Maths A+ Science A+ Sport A+ French A+ Art A+ English B-

B minus?!!!"

Then they spank you like hell because you've got such a bad report...apparently so...

3. They have the worst furniture tastes
Why is it that all my non-Asian friends have such co-ordinated houses that have furniture that acturally match?!When I look around my house they're all different colours and what is with green?! Why is the colour of the walls GREEN??!!! I don't get how they can still keep this ancient junk.

Mostly wooden....

4. They think ahead
My mum ALWAYS buys clothes, shoes and everything else wearable for the "future"
So that's why my shoe is like a size larger than my actual shoe size.

5. They compare you to your friends
Or any other Asian kid that's way smarter than you...

They always compare me to my other SMARTER Asian friends like Sarah Y and Rebecca and Sarah Tran and Yun!!!
So my mum sees that Becca is getting another award and goes
"How come you don't have an award?" Rhetorical question.

So we visit Yun's shop and sees that she's studying.
"How come she's studying in the holidays and you're playing on the computer?"

"So, whose top in your class?"
"Erm...I dunno."
"Is Sarah or Rebecca smarter?"
"I dunno."
"You always say I dunno that means you don't know anything lah? How come other kids so smart how come you never study and always get bad mark?"

Note to self: B is a BAD mark.
