Curtin University STRESS, New Car, 'The Most Popular Girls in School'

16:55 Cyndi 3 Comments

Hi! Sorry I haven't been posting as often as I did before but university is making me rather stressful and busy to blog (although my life is quite boring so I didn't have anything to blog about anyways!)

This week has been rather stressful as I've been trying to enrol into university but being technologically challenged person I am - it's become quite confusing and makes me wish I had paid more attention in Computer Science class back in year 10!! (Surprisingly I passed that class even though I failed both exams.)

Anyhoo, I've decided to actually switch majors in the end to Advertising + Creative Advertising Graphic Design because I am more of a creative person and visual learner at the end of the day and I dislike maths with a passion and Marketing involves a lot of calculations. So switching majors during enrolment was sort of stressful and I had to visit the university in person to fill out a form. Then I had to worry about registering my classes and buying textbooks, Student ID, transportation, financial plans, what laptop to get?! etc.

I'm thinking of getting a Toshiba P840/00S Touch Enabled Notebook but it's $899!! So expensive, so my parents are opting it out to get it as BOTH my birthday present and my 'congratulations! You got into university' gift. It has really nice specs which my parents really like as it's 14 inches and an i5 Intel Core Processor PLUS it's a Windows 8 Touch Screen Notebook. Most importantly (for me) it has a CD Rom which is perfect for me in University!

Bbbut my parents recently just bought a new car so they're pretty much short on those moolahs $$ right now. So I'm not sure when I'll get a new laptop so I'm crossing my fingers that they'll still have this laptop in stock by March when uni starts and toes crossed that it'll be cheaper than $899!

Yeah, we also got a new car also which is the Nissan Dualis and I'm not really sure what else but my sister finally has a car!! My mum is driving the new car and I really like it! It was on an 'End of year' sale so it went down to $35000 from $40000+ !! I got to choose the colour which is called Mineral Grey and it sort of has a blue-ish tinge to it! It only just arrived today and I sat in the back seat after we got the tinting done so I haven't really had the chance to see the features but I won't be driving it anytime soon ! (I'm still on Learners -_-;;)

Okay, enough about me! Today I would like to introduce something that has been going around TUMBLR. Being a frequent user of tumblr, there has been GIFs going around about these Barbie Dolls stop motion show called 'The Most Popular Girls in School'  and it's basically about these Barbie dolls named Mackenzie, Trisha, Brittnay, Deandre, Shay van Buren and Rachel Tice!

They actually kind of swear a lot (except for Trisha) and so if you have sensitive ears, this might not be the show for you! But the show is absolutely hilarious! It makes me literally laugh out loud more than Bob's Burgers does and you know how much I absolutely LOVE Bob's Burgers!! The show has the quirkiest and wittiest lines ever and the plotline is so smooth and everything is just so amazing. Someone please watch it with me so I have someone to talk to about this amazing show!

Here is the first episode if you want to check it out! :)

Thanks for reading this and sorry for the anti-climatic comeback!

Accepted into University!!

20:37 Cyndi 9 Comments

I just got accepted into my first preference university! Which is Curtin University I am so happy and I still can't believe I got in, which is why I need to post this on my blog so that I have proof that I actually got in!

I haven't got the actual acceptance package yet because it doesn't arrive until next week so I can't accept the offer as of now but I'm really excited for it.

PLUS Sims 3 University comes out in March!!!! So while I'll be at university, I will be able to play my virtual family/young adults at university too which will be so awesome and I am just so stoked right now. Now I just need to get a part-time job to help with my funds!

I remember writing my About Me page last year and writing that I wanted to study a double major at Curtin and that hasn't changed at all and I'm so close to achieving this goal of mine! I had thoughts about whether to change my major to Mass Communications as it seemed more fun but I think I'll stay with a double major as Curtin is known for it's Business schools and a double major gives me more job opportunities!

I am so excited yet nervous about entering university.

How was/is university life for you at the moment? Please share some insight into university for me!

If you're like me and you haven't gone to university yet, please leave comments down below which major or job you want to do! :)

Juria Nakagawa: Style Idol

01:58 Cyndi 7 Comments

Hello my lovely readers, people who happen to browse through and creepy stalkers!

Today I would like to share with you one of my style inspirations/ style idols whom I have recently become obsessed with! Her name is Juria Nakagawa and she's the same age as me ~ 17 years old! I discovered her while browsing through Tokyo Fashion to look at beautiful Harajuku fashion which lead me to her tumblr blog where most of these photos I stole from!

I really like this look! It's so casual yet it has a bit of an edge to it.

Other than the fact that we're both the same age, Asian, average height, love tattoo tights and a lover of Harajuku style - she's pretty much got an insane sense of fashion. She's become quite popular lately and her photos have been posted around tumblr a lot.

She currently works at a shop named AvantGarde in Harajuku (is that not the classiest name ever?!) and a model/DJ as well!

She's best known for her cute but punk style! As you can see from the photos below, she usually has these pastel coloured long hair and she matches it with darker clothes which are more grunge. (Sorry, I'm terrible at explaining/describing things) So this makes her have this unique look of having cute/punk/creepy style which I absolutely adore!

I love both styles! I think I'm more of a WHITE (right) style as of now.
As I'm turning 18 in less than a month (eek!) I sort of want to venture off into a new style which would suit my age more. I haven't really developed a style per se but if I were to pick a style ~ it would definitely be Juria Nakagawa's because it's not completely punk/goth but it's not completely cute/sweet like I see in Harajuku usually. It's like a mixture of both!

Love this outfit. She dropped her signature tattoo tights but she still looks fab.

She is also known for her makeup as well which I think is so pretty yet Gothic at the same time! It's usually purple with or without sparkles paired with dark circle lenses. I really like it but I don't think I can pull it off without looking like I've just bruised my eye or something.

One of her more 'sweeter' looks yet still totally keeping the gothic look with her makeup and armlet/choker.

Loving both of their outfits. Do you get what I mean by her style?!
One of the other things I love about Juria's style is her AMAZING hair!! It's always a shade of pastel which are one of my favourite things in the world. Anything that's pastel pink, purple or blue ~ I immediately fall in love with.

I actually attempted to do this to my own hair; this mermaid/pony/pastel hair but unfortunately, I didn't use a strong enough bleach and I didn't buy the correct toner (I think?) and so now it's an orange, brassy colour which I absolutely hate and my hair is still quite dry and damaged after being soaked in conditioner!

HOWEVER! I still want Juria's hair no matter what but I don't know if I will get a job if I have purple hair ... Ugh, life.

One of the styles I would totally wear!

[Review] Maybelline FitMe, Super Stay Concealers & Matte Powder & Eyestudio Gel Eyeliner

19:18 Cyndi 8 Comments

Hello! Today I will be doing a review on Maybelline products I have purchased! I forgot my Maybelline Baby Lips however but I'm sure you can read lots of reviews on that product because it's awesome!

I will be reviewing 4 products today and they are the

  • Maybelline FitMe Concealer in Medium
  • Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Concealer in Fair/Light
  • Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Light
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Ever Lasting Gel Eyeliner in Black

I bought these all with my own money and they range from around $10~$25 depending on whether I bought them during a sale or just their normal price.

I think they're OK prices for concealers/powders/eyeliners! The Baby Lips was under $5 here and that's similar to the price of LipSmackers so I thought that was pretty affordable since there is a lot of product.

Dream Matte Powder

 5/5

As you can see I've hit pan on this product already as I use it so much because it keeps the oil under control. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. There is a lot of product and even though I chose the lighter powder, it suits a whole range of skin tones from extremely fair to medium skin tones. So I love the versatility.

It comes with a puff as well but I rarely use it as it makes my face look cakey.

The powder feels so soft and light like SILK! I feel like touching my face sometimes because it's so smooth and soft as if I didn't just put on BB cream and powder on top of it. I read a lot of reviews before buying it because I wanted the best powder for my year 12 ball and I'm proud to say that this powder did the job! I will definitely repurchase it.

As you can see it - with concealer, BB cream and powder my skin looks so much better! It covers up my horribly large pores and gets rid of the redness and uneven skintone

2/5

I bought this also after reading many reviews! The ones I read said that it was a really nice product for combination/oily/acne-prone skin as it covers up blemishes well. I went to my local Priceline pharmacy and bought it because it was on sale but I picked up the fairest one and so it was waayyy too light for my skin.

Although it is too light, I still use it on my skin but when I first applied it - I noticed that it dries up quickly and so it's really hard to blend it out. It also doesn't really have a smooth texture when it dries up but the texture of the concealer in the bottle is really thick and nice.

The application is EASY though and grabs a lot of product! The coverage is also really good as well and covers up any dark circles or blemishes really well.

4/5

I hadn't read any reviews on this concealer but because I bought the Super Stay 24 Hr one first and that was in the wrong colour, I originally wanted to get another Super Stay in a colour that would match my skin tone but it wasn't on sale anymore! So I bought the FitMe Concealer in Medium and I have to say that I'm really impressed!

I read a lot of reviews on the FitMe foundation and they said that it was more suited to dry skin so I thought the concealer would be the same but even though I have oily skin ~ it suits my skin really well!

The texture is creamy and smooth but oilier than Super Stay. It glides and blends with your skin really well and there is a larger variety of colours to choose from!

I also love the application/bottle as it is easy to use but I have to keep getting more product because the applicator is so small and doesn't grab as much product as I need.

The bottle is so classy ~ I feel like I'm using a Chanel concealer because of it. Maybe it is just me...

3/5

This gel liner is really good and doesn't smudge, stays for a very long time and lots of product is in the bottle. However, it isn't as precise as my liquid eyeliner! Perhaps it is the brush but I find the brush to be so useless that I have to use my own angled brush to apply the gel liner.

The texture is also really smooth but dries quickly! You also have to grab more product to have a dark and perfect line for your eyeliner. It is also extremely hard to do a perfect wing/cat eye with the
brush!

However, the product is really good and there is a lot! The price was also on sale for $15+

Tried to apply it perfectly with the brush provided

Thank you for reading!! Leave questions/comments down below :) I hope this was somewhat helpful!

Revamp! (and a little bit of Sailor Moon)

00:10 Cyndi 5 Comments

As you can see, I have revamped my blog! No more am I constrained to the 'box' layout. I am FREE! It was so simple. I had always wanted to get rid of the box layout because I wasn't able to make my photos LARGE I could only make them fit according to how big the box was but I couldn't figure out how but then I took the big risk of changing the Blogger layout and ta-dah. So now I can upload really big photos! Yei!

On a side note, I have mixed feelings about my layout. I definitely loved my colour scheme from the theme before as everything feels less whimsical. I also need to fix the CSS (ugh -_-;;) However, a new year definitely means a new layout ~ so YEI!

I sort of have to admit, that photo on the right hand is severely photoshopped! I can't find the original un-photoshopped version (damnit!) Also, I copied the idea of the 'connect' from fashiononymous! She has beautiful co-ordinates and a brill style PLUS she's from Hong Kong! yay for fellow Hong Kong(-er?)

Anyhoo, hopefully by the next time I post my layout will have been sorted and made all nice again but in the meantime I must go to sleep or perhaps just end up reading Sailor Moon again?

P.S Anyone else as excited as me for Sailor Moon 2013?! Sailor Moon was basically my whole childhood (along with Totoro and Laputa) because pft, I'm one of those people who didn't grow up with Disney Princesses. I was a hipster and I watched Sailor Moon (yay!)

Here are some Sailor Moon fanart spam for you lovelies! (Most stolen from Tumblr- Here!)

This is my favourite Black Moon villain, Koan!!! I really want to cosplay her!

Style Inspiration + Lookbook no.1

17:25 Cyndi 2 Comments

There's something about these two outfits which really draw me to them. They're so simplistic and casual yet I love how the pieces and combinations work together. They're more of a Autumn/Winter outfit because if I wore them right now I would be having a heat stroke. It is literally over 30 degrees celcius here in Australia. It's actually cooler today/tonight but the week before it's been in the high 30's.

I also pieced together an outfit I usually wear and it's not as classy and stylish as the two outfits above but hopefully I'll be able to make progress throughout the year as I work my way through to becoming more stylish! Yay!

Top from eBay 'Galaxy King Cat with crown', Bag from Sportsgirl, Pastel Blue jeans from Dotti, Shoes are thrifted, jewellery from Lovisa

I also perfected my makeup today and I am so proud of myself! I actually like  my makeup! Usually I am disappointed in myself but today I actually like it! I bought Maybelline's gel eyeliner and it's FitMe  concealer in Medium (will post review on it later!) and I love them so much! It makes my cat eye so much more prettier! Usually by the end of the day I look like a panda because my eyeliner and mascara get smudged. Oh dear -_-;;

I shall end this post with a very camwhore-y post with my Arizona green tea (loves!) Do you like my cat eye? It's not perfect but it's a definite improvement!! :)

[Review] Apple's iPod Nano 7th Generation (Image Heavy)

00:57 Cyndi 0 Comments

So, the other day (December 2012) while shopping with my lovely friend, Sarah, I bought the iPod Nano 7th Gen on a whim. It all happened so fast, I didn't even have time to process the fact that I now owned my very first iPod. Yes, that's right. FIRST!

As it is my first iPod, I won't really have anything to compare it to so just bear with me on this one and assume it's a reviewer's first impression on new technology.

The price wasn't that overpriced on terms for an Apple product (I think) I bought it myself for $150 AUD. It was originally $160 but my friend had a discount card which she let me use. The current iPod Nano I am reviewing is in red/pink and is 16GB which is a lot!

Note: Image Heavy!

Packaging

I thought the packaging was really cute as it came in a small plastic case and you flipped it to open it up. It came with the earphones and charger and which were neatly tucked inside. There was also an information sheet and the usual Apple stickers and also extra information about the product. I thought it was simple and easy to use. However, I did have some trouble getting the actual nano out of the plastic which protected it but that must have been me being stupid.

Nano and iPod nano package

Design

L to R (clockwise): Side, Top, Button, Bottom of iPod Nano
Back of the Nano
Overall, the packaging is so sleek and modernistic. It really screams APPLEFuturistic21st Century! I bought the one in product red (however, it looks more of a rosy pink to me).

I actually really love this design compared to the previous ones. The 6th generation didn't really appeal to me that much as it was way too small for my liking and didn't look like a music player to me at all. When I first saw this, I fell in love with it. I don't even really mind the white space on the back (for Bluetooth) because I mostly see the screen anyway.

Everything is so miniature like the charger and the start button that I really find it suitable for me to bring along anywhere where I need my daily dose of music.

Dislikes

The only thing that I will mention that I dislike is that it is so inconvenient for me to press pause/play or turn the volume up when its down the side of the nano. They actually blend in with the nano and so when I want to pause/play or change the volume - I have to take the nano out because it takes me way too long to shuffle it around my bag/pocket to find which side is the pause/play.

Another thing is the way I have to take out the entire nano to change the song! I actually do set it as a playlist but I'm one of those people that like changing songs but I just wish there was an easier way to change the song without taking out the entire nano or something. Other than that I'm pretty much content with it.

Music Quality

L to R: The NEW iPod Nano earphones and the Lightning Charger

Listening to Regina Spektor!

I kind of really love the new earphones. They fit perfectly in my ear and direct the music straight into my ears. The negative part of the new earphones is that the earphones MUST only be in the right or left ear - it can't be any other way. So the left earbud must only be in the left ear or otherwise it will be rather uncomfortable! So if I wanted my friend to listen as well, it will be quite difficult. Other than that ~ it's a gem! The quality is so good and makes the music I listen to so much better!

The music app is also quite easy to use and is seperated into so many different sections like podcasts, song, album, artist, genre, Audiobooks etc. You can also shake it to shuffle all the songs which is quite convenient. I also recently discovered that a woman will tell you what song you're listening to when you press near the volume button but I have yet to confirm what button I pressed but it was quite weird!
